The Importance of Spring

It’s Easter time.  Spring.  New life.  Being a gardener, I love this time of year.  The veggie garden is planted.  The lavender is filled with bees.  The days are longer. Yet, how easy it is to speed right past the change of seasons because life is so overwhelming and busy?

But don’t.  Make the simple changes that will let you enjoy this change of season.  Here are a couple of ideas:

  1. Spend more time outside.  I have a yard that never gets the time it needs so it is easy for me to avoid it all together.  I am finding just 10 minutes a couple of times a day is making a huge difference is how I feel about how it is looking.  It is also good for my soul. (Bonus: Get a membership to your local botanical garden!)
  2. Add some color to your wardrobe.  I usually wear black, it is easy.  But I have created a capsule wardrobe for each season and I work hard to add in colors that reflect the time of the year.  White and rose go great with my usual black and denim. And, I find it lightens the mood to wear lighter colors.
  3. Renew your spiritual life. The season of Easter lasts till Pentecost (May 20).  What about trying out a new spiritual practice during the Easter season?  Spiritual practices can include: caring for those in need, caring for the earth, getting more sabbath rest, turning off your phone and anything else that brings you closer to who God is calling you to be.  So what will you try?  I am going to care more for my body by adding in more fresh veggies (from the local farmers market).

New life is all around us.  I invite you to join in!
